2. Information we collect
Like most websites, this site uses Google Analytics (GA) to track user interaction. We use this data to determine the number of people using our site, to better understand how they find and use our web pages and to see their journey through the website. Although GA records data such as your geographical location, device, internet browser and operating system, none of this information personally identifies you to us. GA also records your computer’s IP address which could be used to personally identify you, but Google do not grant us access to this. We consider Google to be a third-party data processor (see section 5.0 below).
We may also collect information on the type of web browser that you are using, the operating system that your computer uses, and (where applicable) the link that you followed to get to our website. We use this information to produce general statistics about the numbers of unique visitors to the site and what software they use. In turn, these statistics are used to channel effort into further developing our site to meet the needs of our users.
Otomo takes the security of any information we hold very seriously and will always implement security measures that are in line with or exceed current best practices and recommendations. In addition, our web servers are housed behind a secure firewall that prevents access to our databases from unauthorised users. All our servers are housed in a secure environment with high levels of physical security, and access is only permitted to a handful of security screened staff.
Along with our business and internal computer systems, this website is designed to comply with the following national and international legislation with regards to data protection and user privacy:
- UK Data Protection Act 1988 (DPA)
- EU Data Protection Directive 1995 (DPD)
- EU General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR)
This site’s compliance with the above legislation, all of which are stringent in nature, means that this site is likely compliant with the data protection and user privacy legislation set out by many other countries and territories as well. If you are unsure about whether this site is compliant with your own country of residences’ specific data protection and user privacy legislation you should contact firstname.lastname@example.org for clarification.
5. Third Party Data Processors
We use third parties to process personal data on our behalf. These third parties have been carefully chosen and all of them comply with the legislation set out in section 4. These third parties are based in the USA and are EU-U.S Privacy Shield compliant.
6. Children (under 18s)
We encourage parents and guardians to supervise the use of the internet by their children, and to educate them about providing personal information both on the internet and elsewhere. Where we expect children under the age of 18 to make use of a facility on our website, then we will display a notice stating that parental consent should be given before providing us with any information. Information provided by those under 18 may be deleted or removed through the website, or by the parent or guardian emailing us at email@example.com.
